A life coach can help you improve your life in many ways. You may not realize how beneficial it is to have someone help you identify what you need to improve in your life until you have help from a life coach. In this article, you will go through an exercise, which will help you reach your goals for that day. This is a sample of what a life coach can do for you on either a short term or long-term basis.
Morning Preparation
The day you decide to do this exercise, wake up in the morning and write down the answers to the following:
- What you want to accomplish today
- What you have to do today
- What you would like to do today
- How will you treat yourself if you accomplish everything you set out to do
Once you are done, prioritize all of your tasks. Break up your day into four parts, morning, noon, evening and night. Fit what you need to accomplish into each of these sections of your day today. Be sure to set up time deadlines for you to determine if you on track for the day.
Your First Deadline
Now that you have your first deadline to work towards, get working on it and get what you need done. If you finish what you want to accomplish before the deadline you can either keep working on other tasks due later on in the day or take a break. It is important to give yourself breaks throughout the day so you don't burn yourself out.
Assess Your Progress and Adjust
Sometimes unexpected things happen during the day, which means you have to push back what you had planned on doing. This is not something you need to stress out over because since you have made a schedule you can always get back on task once you have handled the unexpected event.
Once you hit the middle of your day, it is time to assess what you have done and what you haven't done so far. If you are behind, this is your time to decide what can wait until the next day. Once you have made a new list, divide it up into the rest of the sections remaining in the day.
Balance in Work and Life
Achieving a balance in work and life will keep you motivated in accomplishing what you want in life. Many people, who reassess their goals during the day, will view their work tasks as more important and do whatever they need to do to finish that first. The problem occurs when someone does this all of the time and his or her life becomes consumed with work. This causes an unhealthy balance between work and life. When you reassess what you need to do in a day, do not put things like spending time with family or going to the gym second priority. It is important to continue to incorporate these activities into your daily schedule so you don't end up consuming your entire day in only one area of your life.
Assessment of Your Day
At the end of your day, look over what you have done and treat yourself for a job well done. You may not have accomplished as much as you set out to do in the morning but you probably did more than you usually do. A life coach can teach you other techniques like this one, which can greatly improve your life. It's time to take control of what you want in life and make it happen.
