WHAT IS ALTERNATIVE HEALING?

‘Alternative’ is defined by the American Heritage dictionary as “offering a choice between two or more possibilities existing outside conventional institutions or systems.” Alternative therapies usually include all treatments for health problems not addressed by Western medicine.

Many of the alternative therapies today come from traditional healing practices of many cultures, mainly India and China.

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is one of the modalities of Oriental medicine. Although Western acupuncture uses several different modalities including cupping and moxibustion, it basically consists of inserting thin needles into the body at specific points to help specific health problems. The insertion of the needles is not random; the Chinese have mapped the points over 2,000 years and there are more then 1,000 known acupoints.
